About us

Nestled in the mountains of Switzerland, the Alpstein Clinic draws on the heritage of Swiss culture—interweaving humans with nature—and the country’s commitment to natural health care.

The integrated perspective of how we examine patients shapes our view of medicine and dentistry. Biological integrative medicine not only stands for the optimal use of natural as well as diagnostic procedures, but also for appropriate, efficient and non-invasive therapies, as well as the use of preventive options and methods. We rely on the best available scientific knowledge and the valuable decades of clinical experience of our doctors and staff. Our approach focuses on the underlying root causes of illness and combines the strengths of holistic, biological and evidence-based treatments to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art care for the whole body.

Our root cause approach enables us to offer therapies for many diseases including hard-to-treat, chronic illnesses such as cancers, Lyme syndrome, auto-immune, and digestive disorders. We treat all ages from children to the elderly and welcome families. Children are especially dear to us and all of our doctors have great experience in the treatment of children.

Our collaborative team of doctors ensures excellent medical and dental care and develops individual protocols for our patients. Treatment plans include the optimal use of natural, leading-edge therapies and diagnostic procedures. The Alpstein’s in-house pharmacy provides medicines of the highest quality including Swiss and German natural remedies.

The care of the whole person—body, mind and spirit—and bringing our patients into harmony is our priority.

The Alpstein Clinic is situated in the picturesque town of Gais in the mountains of the Appenzell region. Conveniently located just over an hour from Zurich International airport, the clinic is easily accessible by train and car.

While located in the German-speaking area of Switzerland, our team of doctors, dentists, other practitioners and staff speak both German and English.

Housed in the architecture of a traditional Swiss Appenzell building, the interior has been renovated to provide state-of-the-art facilities. The Alpstein is an out-patient clinic, open Monday through Friday. Patients stay at nearby accommodations and the clinic has arrangements with local food establishments to offer meals as per the clinic’s dietary recommendations. More detailed information is available from our patient coordinators.

We look forward to welcoming you at the Alpstein Clinic!
